Maintaining brand and identity in a new market

Private markets investment firm

Our client was a private markets investment firm with a strong reputation in Canada. Following sustained domestic success in their investment strategies across private equity secondaries, infrastructure, and private credit, the firm had embarked on a thoughtful global expansion. As they grew in Canada and later into the UK, they saw an opportunity for growth in the US market, and partnered with Norgay to help them build a US-based team.

Norgay’s mandate began with a senior search for a Head of US Private Equity. This search allowed Norgay to explore the client’s key values and recruit a leader who could work well within the existing global platform while  also bringing a US perspective that the firm had been missing. The Norgay team worked closed with senior leadership to develop messaging and recruitment materials that were unique to the firm’s brand and organizational values. We operated as an extension of their team throughout the search  and were careful to reflect their approach when sourcing the perfect candidates. As a firm that is proud of their Canadian roots, an important facet of the search was finding candidates who would continue to foster the collaborative environment and team-oriented culture that the firm was  known for.  

This initial executive placement eventually led to Norgay placing six out of eight members of the New York Private Equity team, including the Head of Investor Relations and Head of Direct Investments.
